#五四的另一面 ……无政府主义发展到极端境界就是“虚无主义”，就是人类的彻底灭亡。朱谦之就鼓吹“自杀”是一种鲜活刺激的“虚无主义”生活姿态，将之标榜为驱动人类群体走向灭亡的最佳途径之一。1920年7月，朱谦之就曾尝试过一次自杀行动，虽然没有成功，但他并没有放弃以“个体生命”对抗平庸生活的尝试。自杀未遂之后，他醒悟道：“自杀一事，究竟是个人的，我能自觉我的运命，然实没有解决别人运命的自由，所以人人自杀的理想，很难实现，因为无论何人，都不能以自杀望之他人。”
