Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 10, 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Geo Portal and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies when you use our websites and apps. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. We describe both traditional HTTP cookies and comparable browser storage (such as localStorage and sessionStorage) where they affect your privacy.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a site. They can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or “persistent” (they remain until they expire or you delete them).

Local storage and session storage let the app save data in your browser for similar purposes—for example remembering UI choices. Unlike some third-party tracking cookies, these are typically first-party and limited to our domain’s scripts.

3. How we use these technologies

We use cookies and similar storage for:

  • Authentication and security: keeping you signed in with secure, HTTP-only cookies where applicable, and protecting against abuse.
  • Preferences: remembering choices such as light or dark theme when you opt in to storing them on your device.
  • Session and product experience: for example remembering map or UI state within a browsing session where we implement that behavior.
  • Analytics and product improvement: we may use a first-party or session identifier to understand repeat visits to public content (for example portal pages) and to improve reliability. We do not sell personal data from cookies.
  • Payments: when you pay or manage billing, our payment provider may set cookies required for fraud prevention, session continuity, and compliance.

4. Categories

Strictly necessary: required for core functionality such as sign-in, load balancing, or security. These cannot be disabled without breaking the Service.

Functional: enhance usability (for example theme). Where required by law, we ask for consent before non-essential cookies; functional storage may be implemented via local storage after you interact with settings.

Third-party: payment processors, map providers, or video communication services may set their own cookies or equivalents when their content loads. Their practices are governed by their policies.

5. Managing preferences

You can control cookies through your browser settings (block, delete, or alert). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent sign-in or core features. You can clear local and session storage from your browser; doing so may reset on-device preferences such as theme or map provider selection.

For advertising cookies: we do not describe behavioral ad networks here; if we add them, we will update this policy and, where required, obtain consent.

6. Updates

We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices or the law changes. Check the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
