The Phantom of the Monastery is a 1934 Mexican gothic horror movie. A group of people who are lost take shelter in an abandoned monastery. Nicely ambiguous, quite different in feel to the Universal horror films of the era, but just as good.
Blondes at Work (1938), fourth of the Torchy Blane B-movies. Fast-talking feisty girl reporter Torchy has scooped her rivals yet again and is on the trail of a murderer. Light breezy fun and Glenda Farrell is delightful as always. My review
Bulldog Drummond’s Secret Police (1939), a late entry in the series. There's hidden treasure, a cypher, secret passage-ways, good action scenes. Sounds like fun, but it isn't. It's dull. Spectacularly fails to capture the magic of the novel
