On this day in 1923 Pats O'Connor of Knockaunatee, Castleisland, Co Kerry joined the National Army. He would be killed by a trap mine a couple of kilometres from his home, in three months' time, along with four others, during the Civil War.

What “ballyseedy” means
WikipediaBallyseedy is a townland in County Kerry, Ireland. It is situated in the civil parish of the same name, within the historical barony of Trughanacmy. The townland contains a number of notable landmarks, including Ballyseedy Wood, a bridge over the Ballycarty River and a ruined Protestant church. There is also a large restored castle, Ballyseedy Castle, which is in use as a hotel.
