What “crich” means

Crich is a village and civil parish in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire, England. Besides the village of Crich itself, the civil parish includes the nearby villages of Fritchley and Whatstandwell, and the hamlets of Coddington, Wakebridge, and Wheatcroft. The population of the civil parish at the 2001 census was 2,821, increasing to 2,898 at the 2011 census.
