What “dban” means

Wikipedia

Darik's Boot and Nuke, also known as DBAN, is a freemium software hosted on SourceForge. The program is designed to securely erase a hard disk until its data is permanently removed and no longer recoverable, which is achieved by overwriting the data with pseudorandom numbers generated by Mersenne Twister or ISAAC. The Gutmann method, Quick Erase, DoD Short, and DOD 5220.22-M are also included as options to handle data remanence. DBAN can be booted from a CD, DVD, USB flash drive or diskless usin

#dban across platforms

every network with a public tag surface

Follow #dban straight to each platform’s own tag page. Where a platform publishes open data we measure it above; the rest lock their numbers behind paid APIs, so we link rather than guess.

Every number above is measured from a named public API at the shown fetch time. Nothing is estimated or extrapolated. Platforms that lock their data behind paid APIs are not shown. Agents: the same numbers, as JSON, at /api/hashtags/dban
