What “dmidecode” means
Wikipediadmidecode is a free userspace command-line utility for Linux that can parse the SMBIOS data. The name dmidecode is derived from Desktop Management Interface, a related standard with which dmidecode originally interfaced. SMBIOS was originally named DMIBIOS.
