@colinpurrington I don't know. Note that it was John Ascher, not I, who ID'd that bee! Augochlora pura is common in my garden. That's what I expect to see. Augochlorella is a surprise. That's my only observation of that species anywhere. I

WikipediaWithin the insect order Hymenoptera, the Halictinae are the largest, most diverse, and most recently diverged of the four halictid subfamilies. They comprise over 2400 bee species belonging to the five taxonomic tribes Augochlorini, Thrinchostomini, Caenohalictini, Sphecodini, and Halictini, which some entomologists alternatively organize into the two tribes Augochlorini and Halictini.
