As the largest rail transport operator in New Zealand, it owns and maintains the national rail network infrastructure. KiwiRail operates Interislander, Great Journeys New Zealand, Te Huia, Capital Connection, rail freight, and property services. It also provides infrastructure and engineering services for maintaining and improving the rail and ferry networks.
