I think you are right. Non-tech users just want a single identity to be able to communicate. An identity might then have limited abilities - it might not be able to communicate a video. But a payment might fix that. For the broader audience
flattr did this in a very sexy way, but still people were too lazy to adopt. Obviously, the "literally one thing you want from the internet" is not the one thing all the others want 🤣 #micropayment
