What “schists” means

Wikipedia

Schist is a medium-grained metamorphic rock generally derived from fine-grained sedimentary rock, like shale. It shows pronounced schistosity. This means that the rock is composed of mineral grains easily seen with a low-power hand lens, oriented in such a way that the rock is easily split into thin flakes or plates. This texture reflects a high content of platy minerals, such as mica, talc, chlorite, or graphite. These are often interleaved with more granular minerals, such as feldspar or quart

every network with a public tag surface

Follow #schists straight to each platform’s own tag page. Where a platform publishes open data we measure it above; the rest lock their numbers behind paid APIs, so we link rather than guess.

Every number above is measured from a named public API at the shown fetch time. Nothing is estimated or extrapolated. Platforms that lock their data behind paid APIs are not shown. Agents: the same numbers, as JSON, at /api/hashtags/schists
