It's been a long time since this saw was sharpened. Probably, when it was manufactured. I am guessing late 1800's up to 1930 or 1940. #saw #sharpening
I hate sharpening. I managed to sharpen 3 chisels and my plane iron in about 6 hours. I need a better way to do this. I have water stones (220/800 and 4000/8000). They are messy, need constant flattening, and the edges of the wider blades t
#chainsaw #wood #sharpening #filing A cheap and easy file handle for chainsaws. Install hole, install file, done. I also put an X over the hole with marker to make it easier to see. Not my idea. I got it from Richard Mumford of Climbing Inn
What “sharpening” means
Wiktionary · Wikipediasharpening
- verb(sometimes figurative) To make sharp.
- nounThe act by which something is sharpened.
Sharpening is the process of creating or refining a sharp edge of appropriate shape on a tool or implement designed for cutting. Sharpening is done by removing material from the implement with an abrasive substance harder than the material of the implement, followed sometimes by processes to polish the sharp surface to increase smoothness and correct small mechanical deformations without removing significant metal. The process creates a bevel - the angled surface that meets at the cutting edge.
