  • @PhilipPugh Contrast the #VenusTransit with this #MercuryTransit. You will have to expand the image a bit, and you'll see a small dot in the lower left quadrant that is the silhouette of Mercury. Both images were taken with a 50mm telescope

  • @starrytimepod Here's a photograph of the 2012 #VenusTransit that illustrates the same ratio, given that that Venus is about Earth's size. It's probably a little off in scale since Venus was some closer to earth than the sun was. #astronomy
