What “vote” means

Wiktionary · Wikipedia

vote/vəʊt/

  • nounA formalized choice on matters of administration or other democratic activities
  • verbTo cast a vote; to assert a formalized choice in an election
Full entry on Wiktionary →

Voting is the process of making collective decisions by means of submitting and then adding up individual choices. The choice voted upon is often an election of a member or members to conduct political representation, but the object of a vote can be anything, for example what kind of food to buy or whether a defendant is innocent or guilty. Voting can be formal, using ballots and specific rules, or informal using raised hands, shouts, or movement to indicate preference.

#vote across platforms

every network with a public tag surface

Follow #vote straight to each platform’s own tag page. Where a platform publishes open data we measure it above; the rest lock their numbers behind paid APIs, so we link rather than guess.

Every number above is measured from a named public API at the shown fetch time. Nothing is estimated or extrapolated. Platforms that lock their data behind paid APIs are not shown. Agents: the same numbers, as JSON, at /api/hashtags/vote
