Heading to Whakarewarewa to get some biking in before it gets soaked. Possibly camping in my car and squeezing a ride in tomorrow morning. Any other tooters likely to be there? #Rotorua #Whakarewarewa #mtb #emtb
#Whakarewarewa Village is an authentic living #Maori village. On a guided tour they will serve a third corn cob heated by volcanic water and steam. The tour is very interesting and it comes with a cultural show. #NewZealand https://backpack

What “whakarewarewa” means
WikipediaWhakarewarewa is a semi-rural geothermal area in Rotorua, New Zealand. Located in the Taupō Volcanic Zone of New Zealand's North Island, it was the site of the Māori fortress of Te Puia, first occupied around 1325 and known as an impenetrable stronghold never taken in battle. Māori have lived here ever since, taking full advantage of the geothermal activity in the valley for heating and cooking.
