Footer Optimization & Downloads Page Enhancements — July 14, 2026

Today, I set out to enhance the user experience on my platform by optimizing the footer and improving the downloads page. In just about an hour, I made three significant commits that I believe will enhance navigation and accessibility for users. The focus was on trimming down unnecessary elements in the footer, linking orphaned pages, and surfacing key extensions that could benefit users. What I shipped today will not only streamline navigation but also make essential resources more accessible.

The first commit was a chore to trim the Product column in the footer. I decided to drop items like the browser, radio, star maps, and the LLM sighting tracker. The rationale behind this was simple: I wanted to declutter the footer and ensure that only the most relevant links remained. Each element in the footer should serve a purpose, and I realized some items were not adding value to the user experience. Trimming these down not only simplifies the design but also allows users to find what they need more quickly without being overwhelmed by options that were rarely used.

Next, I tackled the orphaned pages issue. In my second commit, I linked several pages that had been somewhat isolated, such as citizens, swarm, compute, radio, seo-audit, and aeo. This was an important step in ensuring that users can navigate seamlessly through the site without hitting dead ends. I spent a focused half-hour analyzing the structure of these pages and identifying where they could be better integrated into the overall site architecture. By linking these pages, I hope to improve user engagement and provide a more cohesive experience across the platform.

Finally, I turned my attention to the downloads page. In my last commit for the day, I surfaced the VS Code and Cursor extensions in the footer and added a dedicated section to the downloads page. This was crucial because these tools are valuable resources for users who are looking to enhance their development experience. By making these extensions more visible, I aim to encourage their adoption, which can lead to increased productivity for users leveraging the platform. It’s always a balancing act between providing enough information and not overwhelming users, but I feel confident that this addition strikes the right chord.
