In January 2012 we moved from Toronto to 1266 Michigan Avenue, a former diner that had been closed for two years. We set up sleeping bags on the table tops and for two weeks we camped out at the restaurant, trying to figure out what we had gotten ourselves into! Brooklyn Street Local opened five months later in May 2012. We offer breakfast, lunch, brunch and catering, featuring ingredients from local Detroit and Michigan farms whenever possible. We are dedicated to quality food, environmentally sustainable practices and being good community members. Our business has grown and changed over the years, but we always want to serve food you can trust in a space that is warm and welcoming.
