Self-custody means the private keys to your wallet are on your device(s), not on a company's server. The advantage is that no platform — including hashtag.org — can freeze, censor, or repossess your assets. The trade-off is responsibility: lose the seed phrase, lose the funds. Most hashtag.org users start with an embedded wallet and graduate to self-custody when comfortable.
